Polythiols are also known as polythiolethers. They are a compound with mercaptane function in the backbone chain. Sulfur is a key element in the manufacturing of Polythiols. Polythiols are prepared by reacting dichloro compound with sodium sulfide and correspondingly by reacting dithiols with ketone or aldehyde. It has a property of outstanding resistance to heat, chemical abrasion and corrosion.
Epoxy resins also known as polyepoxides, they either react with themselves or with co-reactant such as phenols, alcohols and thiols (polythiols). These co- reactant commonly known as hardeners and such cross-link reaction known as curing. Polythiols are used as an effective modifiers for epoxy systems and allow fast cure.
